Veterans Corner

Sandra Van Zant

September is National Suicide Prevention Month.  Helping someone feel included and supported can make a big difference during a challenging time. And it doesn’t require a grand gesture or complicated task.

A simple act of kindness can help someone feel less alone.  Be there. Your call, your presence, your words, your support -- be there and help save a life. Veteran suicide is high, so if you or someone you know has a problem, you can call the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 and press 1. For more information, contact Sandra Van Zant at the Veterans Service Office at 602 Strong Ave. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m to 3 p.m., or call 325-365-3612.
