FTP: Fellowship, rodeos, and biscuits

Gary Karschner

As I write this ‘stuff’ my heart is still full from a great Sunday worship service. Several guests came to our church service Sunday. Please come back.

Gary Karschner is the pastor at Miles First United Methodist Church

We had a family join our church, a giant Easter egg hunt was put on for the "little ones”. (Some adults volunteered to test the candy before the kids got to it.) I hope the kiddos were not traumatized with the empty plastic eggs), and we topped it off with a joint potluck fellowship luncheon shared with our good friends from the Lutheran church. Thank you to all the participants and especially to the members of the ‘Biggest Methodist Church’ in Miles for letting your ‘light’ shine. Channel change.

We watched  several San Angelo rodeo performances on television this past week. I offer a couple of observations learned from these activities.

First, not having to fight the parking and crowds is a blessing.

Second, hearing commentary about the participants is a great thing. Red likes to see Boyd Polhemus at the rodeo so she felt shortchanged. Third and lastly, I liked the different camera angles and replays the television folks offer us viewers. It was kind of cool watching the rodeo actually seeing and knowing folks in attendance. The cameras and lighting do a great job to make the coliseum seem so much larger than it is. Red and I both mentioned the television performances seemed shorter than the live shows.

Red cooked a hearty meal for us Sunday night. Like I needed to eat anything else after our Methodist/Lutheran potluck luncheon.  She made homemade sausage gravy served over biscuits. That meal may still be with me later this week. It was gooooood and filling.

Keep praying for peace in Europe and for rain to come to our dry earth.

Saturday morning the Miles Lions Club will be sponsoring a shot clinic for your pets at the Miles VFD. Bring your critters on a leash and get them vaccinated Saturday.

I pray you will be getting into the spirit of  Easter. This week there will be a Maundy Thursday service at the Lutheran church at 7:00 P.M., and the Miles Ministerial Alliance  is sponsoring a Good Friday service this Friday at noon in the Memorial park in Miles. Looking forward to seeing you folks there, and also next Sunday in church. May you each have a blessed Easter. Be Well, Gary K.
