Two people arrested for burglary and possession of a controlled substance

On December 07, 2021, the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office received information that a wanted subject was living in an empty residence in the 900 block of 4th street in Ballinger. The Sheriff’s Office contacted the owner of the property in the DFW area. The owner said there should not be anyone in the residence and gave permission to search the property.

Runnels County Deputies with the assistance of the Ballinger P.D. entered the residence and found that back door had been kicked in.

Bradley Wayne Horton and Amber Phelps were located inside the residence. During a search of the residence a quantity of Methamphetamine was also located.

Bradley Wayne Horton was arrested on the following charges.

Outstanding Runnels County warrant for bail jumping bond was set at $2000.00

Possession of a controlled substance PG1 1<4g a 3rd degree felony bond set at $3000.00

Burglary of a habitation bond set at $10,000.00

Amber Phelps was arrested on the following charges.

Possession of a controlled substance PG1 1<4g a 3rd degree felony bond set at $4000.00

Burglary of a habitation bond set at $10,000.00

Continuing narcotics investigation nets more arrests

Runnels County Sheriff Carl Squyres and his department conducted a 3-month investigation that lead to almost a dozen sealed indictments and charges on December 8. Squyres says that the department still has more arrest warrants to serve. The investigation led to 4 more arrests on December 14 and is ongoing.

Continuing our investigation into the narcotics trade in Runnels County. On December 14th, 2021, the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 300 block of Strong Ave. in Ballinger.

A quantity of Methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia was located inside the residence. The following individuals were placed under arrest.

Amber Phelps – Possession of a controlled substance pg1 1<4 grams a 3rd degree felony – bond $40,000.00

Sergio Rangel - Possession of a controlled substance pg1 1<4 grams a 3rd degree felony – bond $40,000.00

Gabriel Alfaro - Possession of a controlled substance pg1 1<4 grams a 3rd degree felony – bond $15,000.00

Michael Martinez - Possession of a controlled substance pg1 1<4 grams a 3rd degree felony – bond $10,000.00.

Following the search warrant, we also interviewed several individuals at a residence in the 200 block of Strong Ave. in Ballinger. During this investigation one individual was arrested for the following charge.

Rene Flores – Unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon a 3rd degree felony – bond $7000.00
