Runnels County 4H competes at Indoor Air Shoot in McCulloch County

Charles McDaniel competed in the 4H Indoor Air Shoot in McCullough County and bringing home the bronze medal.

Charles McDaniel represented the Runnels County 4-H Club April 10, 2021, at the H.O.T. Indoor Air Shoot hosted by the McCulloch County 4-H Shooting Sports club at the Tractor Supply in Brady, Texas.

Charles completed in the intermediate age division in 10 M Target Air Pistol. He was the third place competitor, with a score of 103.6. Charles in in the 7th grade and attends Ballinger Junior High School. - Lee McDaniel

Ballinger High School DECA Fundraisers

The Ballinger High School DECA golf tournament will be Sunday, April 18 at the Ballinger Country Club Golf Course. Registration is at 12 p.m. Tee off will be at 1 p.m. The format is 4-man scramble. The fee is $200/team.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams will receive prizes.

Prizes will be awarded for the 2 shots landing closest to the hole. The cost is $1/ball for closest to the hole. Mulligans will be $10 each. Water is $1, Gatorade is $2. You are welcome to bring your own cart.

The Ballinger High School DECA club is also selling raffle tickets to raise funds for students advancing to the International Leadership Conference in May-June.

In addition to the Golf Tournament, we are hosting a Perini Ranch Steakhouse Raffle. Tickets are $10 each with the chance to win a $150 gift card to Perini Ranch Steakhouse located in Buffalo Gap, TX. Please contact a DECA Member or Mrs.Gibbs at lisa.gibbs@ballingerisd.net to purchase tickets.

All profits will be used to support our DECA Competitors that are advancing to the international level.

Raffle tickets are $10 each.

Raffle starts on April 7th and ends April 18th. The drawing is on April 18th.

Concluding from the State Conference (Thursday, April 8 - Saturday, April 10), our competitors and OITS (Officers in Training), had an amazing time! Alyssa Aguero virtually competed in Sports Nutrition, Christy Zhuang virtually competed in Leadership, and Shahaila Nunn competed in person in Chapter in Review Display. We are very proud of all the work our competitors have put forth and very proud to announce that we have a National Qualifer, Christy Zhuang. Christy Zhuang placed 1st in her STAR Event. The National Leadership Conference will be held June 27-July 2 in Nashville, Tennessee. - Ballinger FCCLA

Texas A&M Agrilife - Dinner Tonight

Dinner Tonight! - Backyard Fun Healthy Cooking School

Grab your friends and family and join us for food and fun at the Dinner Tonight!-Backyard Fun Healthy Cooking School and Grilling Workshop, which will be presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the Ballinger Park. Registration will start at 4:00 pm with the program starting at 4:30 pm.

During the cooking school and workshop, everyone will see demonstrations of quick and easy-to-make recipes that that will compliment any family backyard BBQ. We are targeting busy people who still want to make time for meal preparation and feel good about what they are feeding themselves and their family. This is a family event. There will be a youth component, where local Runnels County 4-H members will be teaching kids the importance of nutrition and physical activity. Families will then come gather around the grill and learn safe, proper grilling techniques while preparing their own hamburger! Our goals are to promote family mealtime, teach families healthy meal planning and food preparation techniques, and promote grilling as a healthy food prep alternative.

This event is brought to you by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and will feature local county Extension agents and local Runnels County 4-H members. All participants will receive high quality menu cards, gift bag full of kitchen goodies, a hamburger meal, and a chance to win door prizes. Bring your lawn chairs for this hands-on cooking school and grilling workshop. Pre-registration is required and can be done at runnels.agrilife.org under the Family & Community Health tab. The cost of the cooking school is $10.00 per adult.

Saturday, May 1, 2021.  Meet at Runnels County Courthouse at 8:00 am, or join us in Winters and leave from Z. I. Hale Museum at 8:30 am.  Please invite friends and combine together in vehicles if you have had COVID shots.  Tour is 94 miles and will end at Lowake Steak House in Rowena for lunch.  Bring your camera.  Make sure you have plenty of gas.  One person in each vehicle will need to provide your phone number for texts during tour. These texts will refer you to sites on the tour narrative. You may want to bring your RCHC books—Historical Markers and Schools.  For more information, Randall’s phone is 325-365-1026, Beverly’s is 326-365-6400, and Linda’s is 325-977-0625.  Some areas do not have cell service, but usually texts work. The RCHC will have a meeting after lunch.
