The National Weather Service in San Angelo will have a tornado drill on March 31, 2021. Below is the press release from the NWS:

Tornado Drill Wednesday, March 31, 2021

“Keep Your Cell Phone On and Close to You”

Rowena and Ballinger were struck by a devastating EF-3 tornado on May 18, 2019. There was 1 injury reported and no deaths. The twister stayed on the ground for over 19 miles and, at one point, was over 1 mile in width. That day there were 6 reported tornadoes from Abilene to Knickerbocker. Runnels County was ground-zero for 2 of them.

Tornado Drill

The National Weather Service (NWS) encourages all residents, businesses and schools across West Central Texas to practice your tornado drill on Wednesday, March 31st  at 10:00 AM or at a time/date that is convenient for you. The NWS in San Angelo will transmit a Routine Weekly Test Message through the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on that day/time. Because of the test message format, it may or may not activate certain NOAA Weather Radios.
