Around the County is a new feature that the newspaper will be running weekly. There is no specific topic. We'll run photos and relevant information from students, youth, school districts and civic organizations in the newspaper and online.

BFFA is proud to announce that the Tractor Technician Team advanced to the state contest in March! We are excited to see what they do in Houston!

The Miles Bulldogs Powerlifting team. From Coach Buitron: "The Bulldog & Lady Bulldog Powerlifting teams traveled to Coahoma today & competed their tails off! Incredibly proud of all our lifters who pushed their own limits! It was an awesome day full of exciting moments! We are very excited about what we are building in the weightroom & the mentality that there’s nothing wrong with being STRONG! Also very proud of our basketball players who lifted & are playing a game later today! Very impressed with today! Here are our results from the meet:"

Girls 5th Overall:

Whitney Halfmann - 123s - 1st place; Anabel Villarruel - 132s - Tied 1st place (2nd place officially on body weight); Alexa Schwertner - 148s - 6th place; Natalie Fernandez - 148s - 7th place; Jackie Meyers - 165s - 5th place; Payton Branham - 165s - 8th place; Hana Kohutek - 181s - 6th place; Emily Sklenarik - 181s - Would’ve been near the top but had a few hiccups. She will be back motivated for Eldorado!

Boys 3rd Overall:

The Winters FFA Ag Mech team had the honor of making the WRCA World Championship Ranch Rodeo Team award for them this year. Thank you for letting the First FFA Chapter in Texas be apart of something so BIG! We are grateful for this partnership!

Wild land fire on 153 East.  The responding departments were Ballinger VFD, Coleman FD, Lawn VFD, Talpa VFD, Valera VFD, Glenn Cove, RunnelsCounty, Byler Dozer, Bronte VFD,Alcorn Ranch,

Wildfire: The Winters VFD responded responded to a large wildfire on Jan. 14. The Winters VFD thanked the other departments that assisted:

"We want to thank Ballinger VFD, Coleman FD, Lawn VFD, Talpa VFD, Valera VFD, Glenn Cove, Runnels County, Byler Dozer, Bronte VFD, Alcorn Ranch & the Texas Forestry Service."

Little Free Library: The Little Free Library has been installed at City Park in Ballinger. Rose Harris, an educator for BISD created the project to honor Margo Reeder, who was a beloved and respected teacher for BISD. Reeder passed away in 2019.
