NWS San Angelo releases snow report

The National Weather Service in San Angelo released information regarding the January 10 snowfall that blanketed the area.

County roads and frontage roads were covered in snow for most of the day on January 10.

Snowfall Reports and Records from the January 10 2021 Snow Event.

On January 10, 5.3 inches fell in Abilene, but this was not a record snowfall for the date. The standing record for January 10 is 5.5 inches, set in 1973. For the 2020-2021 season, Abilene has recorded 8.7 inches of snow. The highest seasonal snowfall on record for Abilene is 18.4 inches, set in 1918-1919.

Snow intrigues this mustang, adopted from the Bureau of Land Management. He taste tests the snow as ice blankets the fences in the background. The snow didn't phase the livestock for the most part.

On January 10, 3.8 inches fell in San Angelo and this was a record snowfall for the date. The previous record for January 10 was 1.6 inches, set in 1973. For the season, San Angelo has recorded 5.8 inches of snow. The highest seasonal snowfall on record for San Angelo is 17.3 inches, set in 1918-1919.

On January 10, Brownwood measured 5 inches of snow. The highest seasonal snowfall on record is 20 inches, set in 1918-1919.

On January 10, a spotter in Ballinger estimated 4 inches of snow. The highest seasonal snowfall on record is 21.5 inches, set in 1918-1919.

On January 10, Albany measured 4 inches of snow. The highest seasonal snowfall on record is 19.5 inches, set in 1918-1919.

On January 10, Coleman measured 3 inches of snow. The highest seasonal snowfall on record is 23 inches, set in 1918-1919.
