Ballinger Woman's Club

The BWC met on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.The speaker was Ronica Worgull, MS, the chapter director of the Abilene branch of Safe Families for Children. Safe Families for Children creates extended family-like support for desperate families through a community of devoted volunteers who are motivated by faith to keep children safe and keep families intact. First Baptist Church FLC

The First Baptist Church FLC chicken spaghetti luncheon will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. The luncheon is sponsored by the Ballinger Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. St. Joseph’s Parish Festival

St. Joseph's Catholic church, Rowena, will host their 98th Fall Festival on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020.

Because of the restriction brought on by COVID 19, this year's festival activities have had to be changed somewhat. There will be a mid-day meal and will be drive thru only plates-to-go. Serving will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Plates will be $10.00 and feature German sausage, pinto beans, cowboy potatoes, coleslaw, bread and desert.   Prepaid sausage sales will be available at $5 lb. in 5 lb increments, pick up will be drive-thru only. Deadline date to order sausage is Nov. 5, 202. For prepaid sausage order forms, you may email Mass for workers or anyone who would like to attend will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at St. Joseph's Church with Sunday mass scheduled for 9:30 a.m. General Festival Chairmen are Marshal and Martha Lange with Tony and Norma Multer as General Co-chairmen.

Miles Trade Days

Miles Trade Days will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Nov. 7th. Downtown businesses will be open and vendors will be on the sidewalk. Free 10x15 booths are available.

The Miles city-wide garage sale will be held in Miles on Nov. 7th, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Maps will be available at 8 a.m. at Weatherby Hall on West First Street.

Runnels County Historical Commission

A Driving Tour of Fall Foliage, Wildlife, and Historical Sites Friday, Oct. 30, 2020.  Meet at Runnels County Courthouse at 8 am, or join us in Winters and leave from Z. I. Hale Museum at 8:30 am.  Please invite friends and combine together in vehicles.  Tour is 75+ miles and will end at Lowake Steak House in Rowena for lunch.  Bring your camera.  Make sure you have plenty of gas.  You may want to bring your RCHC books — Historical Markers and Schools.

Ballinger Recycling Center Recycling Center Hours

The City of Ballinger's Recycling center, located at South 7th Street and Sealy Avenue is open from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday. Open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Carnegie Library

We are open now with our regular hours. Regular hours are 10-5 Monday, Wed., Thursday, and Friday. Open 10-6 on Tuesday. We also have a librarian who is a Notary Public. It costs $5 per document notarized. We have had a very profitable book sale so far, and want to thank you for your support.

CASA volunteers wanted

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Tom Green County, Inc. (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is seeking volunteers. Currently CASA serves 60 percent of the children in foster care. Meals on Wheels volunteers needed

Do you want to do something to help your fellow community members? Volunteers are needed as new clients have been added to the Meals on Wheels Plus program in Runnels County. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Ballinger Noon Lions Club

The Ballinger Noon Lions Club wants to thank all businesses who participate in the Flag Project. The club would like to invite new businesses to join our Flag Project. On all major holidays members place flags out and pick them up. The annual cost for this service is $24.

Senior Citizen Lunch

The First United Methodist Church in Ballinger will provide a free lunch to Ballinger senior citizens on the second Tuesday of each month at the Senior Citizens Center. The meal will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The doors will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to make time for seniors attending to have time for visiting and fellowship. Anyone who needs a ride to the lunch, please call 365-2323. Wheelchairs cannot be transported.

Visit 'Friendly Neighbors'

The Texas Extension Education Agency “Friendly Neighbors” invites everybody in the Runnels County area who is interested in learning about cooking, gardening, arts and crafts and other useful subjects to meetings at 2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except during the summer). Meetings will alternate between the Runnels County Extension Office on the corner of south 7th Street and Sealy Ave. in Ballinger and the Winters Public Library at 120 N. Main St. in Winters. WIC open to many families

(WIC) is located in the First United Methodist Church on 1501 N. Broadway Street, phone number is 325-365-5925. WIC is open Monday and Wednesday only from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.

Wingate Masonic Lodge meetings

Winters Food Bank & Thrift Store

Winters Tai Chi

The Winters Tai Chi group meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the First Baptist Church Jones Hall. Slow stretches and breathing exercises are suitable for senior citizens. Benefits include improved balance and agility. Cost is free. Participants should bring along water.
