Runnels County 4-H’ers compete at West Texas Fair and Rodeo

Ten Runnels County 4-H’ers competed this past weekend in the West Texas Fair and Rodeo Market Lamb, Goat, and Breeding Heifer Shows. This was the first outing of the season for many of the 4-H’ers who have been working with their projects throughout the summer in anticipation of the 2020-2021 show season. Shows like the West Texas Fair are a good way for these 4-H’ers to gain experience and learn about caring for their livestock projects.

The 4-H’ers who participated, and their placings include:

Royce Cook – Ballinger 4-H – Champion Finewool Show B, 1st place Finewool Cross Show B

Parker Cook – Ballinger 4-H – Finewool Cross and Medium Wool

Trevor Gibbs – Ballinger 4-H – 6th place Finewool, 4th place Finewool Cross Show A&B, 4th

place Finewool Cross

Allie Clemens – Ballinger 4-H - 8th place Southdown

Wyatt Clemens – Ballinger 4-H - 8th place Southdown

Kade Landers – Ballinger 4-H – 3rd place Angus Heifer

Curry Smithwick – Miles 4-H – Reserve Champion Finewool Show A, Reserve Champion Finewool Cross Show A & B

Dawson Smithwick -Miles 4-H – 5 th place Medium Wool Show A, 1 st place Medium Wool Show B

Rylee Vahlenkamp – Miles 4-H – 3 rd place Finewool Show B, 5th Place goat

Kyle Vahlenkamp – Miles 4-H – Reserve Grand Champion Goat, 1st place Finewool Show A, 8th place Finewool Cross Show A, and 10th place Finewool Cross Show B

Runnels County 4-H’ers will continue to compete in the West Texas Fair over the next couple of weeks in the heifer, breeding sheep, calf scramble and steer shows.
