The following is a press release from the office of Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11).

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11) released the following statement after the United Kingdom (U.K.) announced that Huawei will be banned from providing any future equipment for the U.K’s 5G network, and any existing Huawei equipment will be removed by 2027:

“I’m glad to see the U.K. coming to their senses and moving towards removing Huawei equipment from their 5G network. I have long warned about the threats of allowing companies controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, like Huawei, from accessing telecommunications networks in the United States as well as those of our allies. We must always be cautious about who we choose to partner with, especially when it comes to allowing adversaries an inside look at our communications. I’m relieved to see our friends in the U.K. arrive at the same conclusion.”
