Runnels County Historical Commission to meet
RUNNELS COUNTY - The Runnels County Historical Commission will meet at the Lowake Steak House in Rowena Saturday, November 18 for the regular scheduled meeting. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. A program is planned and a business meeting will follow. All meetings for the commission are open to the public.
Toys for Kids
Runnels County Sheriff Carl Squyres wants the public to know that the 35-year tradition of Toys for Kids will continue this year, and toys and donations will be collected by the Runnels County Sheriff's Office. Each year, businesses and individuals make both monetary donations and donations of toys, clothing and other items. The RCSO will start collecting after Thanksgiving. Mark your calendar to continue this tradition to help children in Runnels County have a wonderful Christmas.
Ballinger Noon Lions Grocery Give Away
BALLINGER - The Ballinger Noon Lions Club and the Shoppin' Baskit have teamed up to for a $400 Grocery Give Away. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are available at the Shoppin' Baskit, First Community Federal Credit Union Acapulco’s Restaurant or from any Lions Club member. The drawing will be held Nov. 18 at the Shoppin' Baskit.
Seniors Fun Night each Friday
WINTERS - Friends of Seniors of Winters has Fun Night and Potluck Supper at 5:30 p.m. on Friday nights each week at the Senior Center 601 Wood St. Winters. Visitors can enjoy cards, pool, dominoes, games and bingo. Bring a covered food dish to share and join the fun!
Winters Public Library news
WINTERS - The Winters Public Library Board of Directors are currently selling raffle tickets for a drawing for a “Tech” Basket which includes an Amazon 10” Fire Tablet and case, an Echo Dot (second generation) and an Anker Power Core Charger. There will also be a second drawing for a “Fitness” Basket which includes a Fit Alta-Black, a bluetooth headset, wrist weights, phone grip/stand, a water bottle and protein bars.
The drawing will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2 at the Winters Public Library.
Tickets are $5 each and are available at the Winters Public Library or from any board member. All proceeds to benefit the Winters Public Library.
Senior Citizen lunch
BALLINGER - The First United Methodist Church in Ballinger will provide a free lunch to Ballinger senior citizens on the second Tuesday of each month at the Senior Citizens Center. The meal will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The doors will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to make time for seniors attending to have time for visiting and fellowship. Anyone who needs a ride to the lunch, please call 365-2323. Wheelchairs cannot be transported.

BALLINGER - Make plans to come by the Art Gallery located in the lobby of the Cook Professional Building at 804 Hutchins Ave. in downtown Ballinger. Visitors will see a variety of paintings on display by a featured artist of the month plus other art from members of the Mid-West Texas Artist Guild at the Do-Art Studio. The exhibit and sale times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and varied times on Friday.
Meals on Wheels volunteers needed
RUNNELS COUNTY - Do you want to do something to help your fellow community members? Volunteers are needed as new clients have been added to the Meals on Wheels Plus program in Runnels County. Winters Library news
WINTERS - The Winters Public Library has public access Internet computers and free WiFi. The library is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
WINTERS - Runnels County residents may obtain diabetes and blood pressure screenings at the Winters Public Library from 9 a.m. to noon the third Wednesday of each month. Do not eat before the screening for the best results. The library is closed at that time, so those wishing to obtain a screening must enter through the back door of the library o Grant Street. For the best results for this test, do not eat two hours before screening.

A Time for Freedom

CASA volunteers wanted
The Children's Advocacy Center of Tom Green County, Inc. (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is seeking volunteers. Currently CASA serves 60 percent of the children in foster care. Visit Friendly Neighbors
The Texas Extension Education Agency “Friendly Neighbors” invites everybody in the Runnels County area who is interested in learning about cooking, gardening, arts and crafts and other useful subjects to meetings at 2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except during the summer). Meetings will alternate between the Runnels County Extension Office on the corner of south 7th Street and Sealy Ave. in Ballinger and the Winters Public Library at 120 N. Main St. in Winters. Masonic Lodge meeting
The Ballinger Masonic Lodge #643 meets on the first Monday evening of each month at 7 p.m. at the lodge at 500 North Broadway. A meal will be served following each meeting. All District 105 Masons and those in the area, are encouraged to attend and meet for fellowship.
Carnegie Library hours
BALLINGER - The Carnegie Library in Ballinger is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. The library is currently closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Children's Story Hour will be held each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
Recycling Center Hours
The City of Ballinger’s Recycling Center, located at South 7th Street and Sealy Avenue, is open from 8 a.m. to noon on Monday. The recycling center is open from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Saturday, the recycling center is open from 8 a.m. to noon.
WIC open to many incomes and families
Women Infants and Children, (WIC) located at 706 Strong Ave. in Ballinger is open from 7 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. WIC is closed every third and fourth Monday of each month. Phone 325-365-5925.
Wingate Masonic Lodge meetings
The Wingate Masonic Lodge 1042 A.F. & A.M., meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month, at the Wilmeth Lodge.
Paint Rock Masonic Lodge meetings
The Paint Rock Masonic Lodge No. 613 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Supper will be provided after the meeting held at the Masonic Lodge building located at 360 South Roberts on Highway 83 South.
