Ballinger High School senior Jadyn Gore will participate in track and field at Hardin-Simmons University.
Ballinger High School senior Jadyn Gore has signed to play track and field with Hardin Simmons University. The university began pursuing her via her track coach during her sophomore year. Gore has been involved in track and field since 7th grade. She also plays basketball on the girls’ varsity team. Gore’s family and friends showed up at the Ballinger High School library to congratulate her and watch her sign her letter. “I’ll compete in shot put, discus, javelin and possibly the hammer throw.” Gore’s father, city councilman Jason Gore added with a chuckle, “Pretty much anything that involves throwing.”
The signing was interrupted for several minutes due to a power outage but that didn’t slow anyone down because out came the cell phones with flashlights turned on. The myriad of cell phones lit the library enough for Gore to sign, for the cake to be cut by Jason Gore and served as lighting for some photographs.
Gore received 2 significant scholarships. One of the scholarships was awarded based on her SAT score and her GPA. That scholarship will give her $13,000 per year. The other scholarship is from Hardin Simmons for financial aid and that will pay $8,500 per year.
Gore is more than just an athlete she’s also involved in the high school’s DECA, FFA and FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).
Asked what she plans on majoring in and she is still choosing between pre-pharmacy and chemistry. Whatever her choice we all wish her the best as she moves on to the next level and continues her journey.
