It wasn't the prettiest of games, however, the Randall Raiders were able to survive a scare from district foe Abilene Wylie to come away with a 24-20 win on Happy State Bank Field at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium on Friday night.
In a game that was much closer than fans may have expected, the Bulldogs fought back from a 14-0 deficit to take a 20-17 lead midway through the fourth quarter.
That's until Randall was able to score the eventual game-winner, when Cayden Eason brought down an 8-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jakobe Norman with 5:03 to play. The victory moves the Raiders to 4-0, but more importantly in a share for the District 3-5A Division II lead with Lubbock Cooper. Randall also clinched a Class 5A Division II playoff spot.
"It feels good to clinch a playoff spot," Randall coach Gaylon Selman said. "It was nice to do it on our home turf, and in front of our home fans. We knew Wylie would bring a fight, and they did. We were able to pull it out."
Randall running back Jasean Barrow went over the 1,000-yard mark for season. The dynamic junior carried the ball 16 times for 107 yards, putting him at 1,012 for the year.Jordan Jennings added 92 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown, while Norman threw for 158 yards with two TD passes.
