Ballinger's Sydney Bowman ran away with first place in the 3200 meter race at the San Angelo Relays.
SAN ANGELO - Ballinger track teams traveled to San Angelo for the 60th Annual San Angelo Relays March 23-24.
The Ballinger High School ladies track team featured a shining star in Sydney Bowman who took first and second place in the 3200m and 1600m race respectively during the meet. Bowman ran away with first place in the Division IV 3200 meter relay with a time of 12:09, besting athletes from schools throughout the area. She also took second place in the 1600 meter race with a time of 5:33.40.
Brownwood led the way in the 400 relays taking in first in the 4X100, 4X200 and 4X300 and the 100 hurdles.
Overall the Ballinger girls placed 10th in Division IV, with 18 points. Brownwood was first with 124.5 points.
In Division II the Ballinger men’s team tied with Crane for 15th place overall in the meet. Standouts during the meet included Kennedy Byler who tied 12-0 with Crane’s Rugby Rodman.
Overall Brownwood took first place with 132 points, followed by Sonora in second place with 115 points overall and Wall with 80 points.
The track teams will travel to Wall for a meet today and then on to the district meet, also in Wall on April 6.
