In what was supposed to be a thrashing according to experts, Ballinger hung tough against the #1 Canadian Lady Wildcats. Ballinger was ultimately defeated 45-24 in the end of the game held Thursday in Vernon.
The Lady Cats were no easy out, however. At the end of the first quarter Ballinger would actually hold a lead 7-5 and they were within three points at half, down only 15-12. Canadian thrives on a full court pressure defense and ultimately in the second half it would be that pressure that would wear down the Lady Cats. On the stat sheet on this night there was not much to take away.
“Sydney (Bowman) did a great job at the point guard spot, handling full court pressure the entire game and only having four turnovers," Coach Stacy Smalley said.
All things considered it was a successful season for the Lady Cats. They were able to hoist another gold ball after winning Bi-district again. They were dominant at points throughout the season, losing only to Wall in district play. Next season will be a new look for the Lady Cats as they will graduate six seniors.
