The Ballinger Bearcats won the Bluecat Classic in Coleman Thursday through Saturday with a final score of 62-48 after having gone 3-0 during the tourney.
The Ballinger Bearcats won the Bluecat Classic in Coleman Thursday through Saturday with a final score of 62-48 after having gone 3-0 during the tourney. The Bearcats defeated Veribest 67-40 and Stamford 63-46 and then finally the Coleman Bluecats on Saturday for the championship.
This puts the Bearcats 10-1 in the district.
Deaundre Manley received the MVP from the game shooting over 50 percent - 6 for 12 Saturday. On Friday he went 3 for 4 and Thursday went 4 for 8.
“In the championship game he lead the game with 21 points scored,” said Coach Jamal Anene.
The other standout was Chance Parker who averaged 13.6 points and seven rebounds a game.
Bearcat Javier Nunez averaged 10 points a game.
The Bearcats tallied a 59-49 win against Brady last week. The top performer of that game was Jaeden Coy with 14 points followed by Kenyan Gonzales who tallied 13 points. Parker followed close behind with 12 points scored and six rebounds.
The Bearcats were set to play Albany on Tuesday evening. On Friday, the Bearcats take on Jim Ned which is the first game this season with that team. A win could rank the Bearcats in the top 20 in the 3A play in the state.
