"the kids played hard but ran up against the number one team in the state in 2AD2," Winters Athletic Director and Coach Matt McCarty said. "We could not sustain drives throughout the game until the very end. We would get a couple of first downs and then have to punt it. They are a very talented offensive team and we had a tough time stopping them. Also had some mistakes that we shouldn’t have had and when you have those against Albany, it makes it tough to win."

The victory got Albany up to 6-0. Winters's record fell to 1-5 after the loss.

The two teams have their sights set on raising those records in their upcoming games. Winters will square off against Miles this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Homecoming game. After another low point total this last game, Winters has fallen into a real scoring funk its past three games; hopefully the team can find some way to reach the end zone more consistently.

The Winters Junior Varsity team was victorious over Albany, with a final score of 48-22. However, the 8th grade team lost 34-14 and the 7th grade team was defeated with a final score of 12-6.
