The Winters Blizzards were victorious on Friday as the varsity logged a 52-36 win and the JV tallied a 38-6 win over the Bangs Dragons.

McCarty said the varsity match, both teams went back and forth, but it would be Chris Diaz, who emerged as the star player of the night after having 22 carries, racking up 258 yards and seven touchdowns.

Troy Hernandez was also a key player, with 15 carries for 105 yards and one touchdown.

The standout player for the JV match held Thursday, was Alex Salas, who scored three touchdowns during the game. Sema’jae had two touchdowns and Matt Jacob tallied one.

McCarty said he is proud of both teams and believes that the wins will go a long way to give the teams the confidence they need to take on the Hamlin Pied Pipers Friday night during the home game at Blizzard Stadium.

“They are ranked 12th in the state, and it will be a tough one, but we’ve got the wind from the last game and if we execute like we did last week I think we’ll be successful,” McCarty said.
