BALLINGER - The annual "new and improved" Golf Tournament benefitting the Carnegie Library will be Saturday, July 15, at the Ballinger Country Club. The original tournament date in June had to be postponed.

Teams will consist of two persons, and will be played as an 18 hole scramble one day only. The entry fee is $100 per team, which includes a mulligan for each player.

One half of the entry-fee money will be donated directly to the Carnegie Library and the other half will be paid out in prize money.

Players interested in playing an extra nine holes may pay and additional $10 per person and play the last round for "day money" or skins. All of that money will be returned to the golfers as prize money.

A hamburger meal (furnished by the Noon Lions Club) will be sold following tournament play Saturday, as well as Dankworth sausage wraps throughout the day. Spouses and guests are welcome to purchase a hamburger meal and enjoy the raffle.

One of the nine hole rounds will include a chance to split 50/50 with the library for being closest to the pin on hole number five, or having the longest drive on hole number four. Entry into each of those contests will be a $5 per golfer. Carts will be available for rent, but must be ordered in advance.

Local businesses and individuals sponsor the event, as well as furnish items for the raffle. To donate sponsorship money or a raffle item, please contact Carolyn Slaughter at 325-718-9996 or the Carnegie Library at 325-365-3616. Raffle tickets will be sold at the Country Club Saturday of the tournament, as well as at First National Bank, Ballinger National Bank, and IGA Shoppin' Baskit before the tournament. Tickets sell for $5 each or five for $20, with prizes being valued at $50 or more.
