BALLINGER – The Ballinger ISD board of trustees will hold a special called meeting Wednesday, vote on hiring Chuck Lipsey as the athletic director and head coach for the district. Lipsey is currently employed as the AD at Brady ISD.

If approved, Lipsey will fill the position left vacant after Coach David Jones resigned Thursday, April 13. Jones replaced Justin Wiley in 2015 and posted a two year record of 9-12 including two playoff appearances.

Lipsey served as head coach at Bangs ISD for seven seasons before heading to Brady to coach the Bulldogs in 2015.

The San Angelo Standard Times reported that Lipsey began his head coaching career in 2001 at Winters High School.

Lipsey is coming to Ballinger after a two-year stint in Brady, where he was 11-11 with a couple of playoff appearances, the Standard Times reported.

Lipsey, a graduate of Mason High School and Angelo State University, went 6-5 in his first season as a head coach with Winters in 2001.

The next season, he led the Blizzards to a 12-3 record and a trip to the state semifinals.

Lipsey then accepted a job at Whitewright in 2003 and promptly led that school to the state quarterfinals his first season there.

He then spent seven years at Bangs and made the playoffs six times, compiling a 51-30 record, the Standard Times reported.

In 16 years, Lipsey has built an overall record of 123-65.
