The Lady Blizzards participated in the Lions Club Invitational Tournament in Anson over the holidays, and while they split their games, winning two and losing two, they received a huge honor as the Lions Club awarded the Lady Blizzards the Sportsmanship Award for the team that displayed the most sportsmanship during the tournament.

"Sure, I'd like to have won the tournament," said Lady Blizzards' Coach Val Acree, "But to receive this award says a lot about our kids."

In the tournament opener, Winters was defeated 54-17 by the #13 ranked Class 2A team, the Wellington Lady Rockets. Aimee Green and Christy Kruse had four points a piece, while Cha-Cha Lovelace and Karlee Busher each had six rebounds.

In their second game,  the Lady Blizzards fell short in a hard fought battle with the Whitney Lady Cats, 46-38. Green had 12 points, while Baily Knight and Monique Carrillo each pulled down 10 rebounds.

In their third game, the Lady Blizzards snapped a four-game losing streak going back to December 16, as they defeated the Trent Lady Gorillas, 50-20. Micaiela Ochoa has 12 points with a perfect shooting performance. She was 3-for-3 from the 3 point line, and 1-for-1 from inside the 3 point line and the free throw line.  Green had 11 points to go along with seven assists, while Karlee Busher had 12 rebounds.

In their final game of the tournament, the Lady Blizzards fought back from several deficits and defeated the Knox City Lady Greyhounds, 38-34. Green had 15 points, while Carrillo added nine. Karlee Busher had 11 rebounds.

The Lady Blizzards are now 13-8 on the season and resume district play in the new year on January 3rd when they travel to Eldorado.
