The Winters Lady Blizzards opened up District 7-2A at home last Friday, hosting the #23-ranked Forsan Lady Buffs and the visitors were not kind to their hosts, as Forsan defeated Winters, 49-19.

The Winters Lady Blizzards opened up District 7-2A at home last Friday, hosting the #23-ranked Forsan Lady Buffs and the visitors were not kind to their hosts, as Forsan defeated Winters, 49-19. 

The Lady Buffs jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, as their six-foot post players dominated the game inside. Micaiela Ochoa and Cha-Cha Lovelace led the Lady Blizzards with five points each. Karlee Busher continued her rebounding prowess as she had 10 rebounds, while Monique Carrillo had eight. The Lady Blizzards are now 11-5 on the season and 0-1 in district play.  In the JV Game, the JV Lady Blizzards lost a close game, 24-22, to Forsan’s JV. Shelby Gray had six points, while Jezebel Gonzalez and Marley Smith had five apiece. The JV Lady Breezes are now 9-5 on the season and 0-1 in district.

In JH action, the 7th grade Lady Breezes fell to 2-2 on the season, with a 28-13 loss to Christoval’s 7th grade. Tori Campos led the Lady Breezes with five points. The 8th grade Lady Breezes fell to 1-3 on the season with a 55-11 loss to a very stout Christoval 8th grade team. Hailey Renfro led the Lady Breezes with eight points.  The Lady Breezes’ next game will be January 9th at home against Miles. 

The Lady Blizzards will host the Ozona Lady Lions on Tuesday, December 20, in their final game before Christmas. The JV game will be at noon and the Varsity will play at 2:30pm.
