The Ballinger Bearcats topped the visiting Alpine Bucks football team by a final score of 45-29 in Friday's league outing.

Ballinger Coach David Jones said that Friday's win was a boost to the Bearcats.

"Friday night was a great win for our kids and our program," Jones said. "Playoff seeding can be an important part of a successful playoff run.  Our kids understood the implications of this game and I think their play supported this fact."

With the win, Ballinger improves its record to 4-6 on the season. The Bearcats travel to Eastland to confront the Mavericks in a non-league outing on Friday, November 11. The Mavericks go into the outing with a record of 7-3. Eastland lost 27-14 in their recent league outing against Cisco.

Jones said the team is excited to get to the playoffs.

"We are extremely excited to represent this school and community in the Texas High School Playoffs," Jones said.  "Eastland is a very good football team, as is everyone who is still playing.  As always, the team that makes the fewest mistakes will win this game.  We relish playing in big ball games with big implications."
