This Sunday will be mother’s day and it is so easy to overlook or forget it in the fast-paced society we live in. It seems like we are or becoming an "all about me" society. God made us to be with and around other people. You see that in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:18&24). He made us also with the ability to know Him and love Him (Deuteronomy 6:5-9). We are to keep ourselves in that Love (Joshua 23:11, Jude 21).
All through the Bible it talks about our interactions with others like, love your neighbors (James 2:8) love your enemies (Luke 6:27&28). We are also commanded to give a special place of honor to our mothers and fathers (Exodus 20:12). The Bible goes on to tell us some do’s and don’ts concerning parents and especially mothers. We are not to curse them, (Exodus 21:17) we are to fear/reverence them (Leviticus 19:3) we are to consider and not overlook them (1 Kings 19:19-21) we are to heed their instruction (Proverbs 1:8, 6:20) we are told to not despise or rob (Proverbs 15:20, 28:24) and still respect them in old age, (Proverbs 20:22).
It is good that we have a special day to honor mothers but I also think we need to also treat them special the rest of the year. Remember they were created uniquely to care for us and for us to love them. See you in church next Sunday.
