Richard Wayne Hamilton, 82, of Winters passed away Friday, December 11, 2020.
He was born April 10, 1938 in Ballinger to Clarence and Vera Hamilton. He attended schools in Ballinger and San Angelo. Richard moved to Winters in 1953 and married Beth Smith here in 1958. Beth preceded him in death January 8, 2012. He later married Velma Sudduth on February 14, 2017. Richard worked for Mansell Bros. for 22 years, owned H&H Tire Service in Winters for 10 years, and worked for Bishop and Sons before becoming the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2 for 16 years. He volunteered for the Winters Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years before retiring, and was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Winters.
Richard was preceded in death by wife Beth Hamilton, parents Clarence and Vera Hamilton, 7 siblings, grandson Scott Lange, and son-in-law Kerry Hall.
He is survived by his wife: Velma Sudduth of Winters; 4 children: Joyce Knight and husband Wally of Winters, Donna Hall of Bronte, Debbie Lange and husband James of Winters, and Beverly Asbury of San Angelo; 2 step-daughters: Donna Hagle and husband Jay of Winters, and Shelley Kness and husband Cody of Leesville, LA; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Winters Volunteer Fire Department.
