Dorothy Lomore Liggins, 79, of Winters, Texas passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020.
Dorothy was born on June 14, 1941 in Winters, Texas to Willie Liggins and Katherine Brockington. She attended school in Winters and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and spent her lifetime taking care of her many family members and friends.
As the quiet matriarch of the family, Dorothy (affectionately known as “Aunt Dorothy” by most) shared her wisdom and kindness to all who were fortunate enough to have been part of her life. She loved the Lord and lived her life according to Ephesians 4:32 – “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you.” She had a huge heart and exhibited love and compassion to everyone she met.
She is preceded in death by her father, Willie Liggins; her mother, Katherine Brockington; her grandmother, Cynthia Choice; lifelong partner, Joe McKinley Carson; a sister, Marie Liggins; and nephew, Johnny Ray Liggins, Sr.
She is survived by her son, Tony Johnson of Odessa; sister, Margaret Griffin and husband Dennis of Winters; two grandchildren: Anthony Johnson and wife Sirena; and T.J. Johnson; four great-grandchildren; three nieces; one nephew; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and a whole host of friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Winters Health Care Residence, Interim Hospice, and the medical team at North Runnels Hospital for all they have done in caring for our Aunt Dorothy during her illness.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Northview Cemetery under the direction of Winters Funeral Home.
