Nanallene Miller Turner
Ballinger - Nanallene Miller Turner went to be with our Lord and Saviour, Saturday, February 27, 2021. Funeral services were held Friday, March 5, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan Wallace officiating and assisted by Rev. Ferris Akins. The funeral service will be live-streamed and available to view for 90 days. Interment will follow in the Voss Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Nan was born in Cleburne, Texas, June 21, 1936, to Erman Lanier and Esta Pearl Miller. She was primarily raised in Coleman, Texas and graduated from CHS in 1953. Nan attended Hardin Simmons University and graduated in 1957 with a degree in education. Nanallene met the love of her life at a Farm Bureau Queen contest and they married on June 8, 1957. Nan and Allen moved to Abilene, where he worked for the Texas A&M Extension Service and she taught 2nd grade. The couple moved to Menard, Texas in 1959 and began a family. Nanallene stayed very busy raising their children and making a home for her family, and substitute teaching at Menard ISD. The Turners moved to San Angelo, Grape Creek, and eventually Ballinger. After retirement, Nan and Allen moved back to their home county of Coleman and started a new journey. Nan was active in the Cowbelles club, the Happy Creative Stitchers quilting club, and First Baptist Church of Coleman. In 2006 the Turners built a home and moved out to Voss, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gouldbusk, and the Gouldbusk Women's Club. Nanallene was well known for her hospitality, her cooking skills (especially her famous rolls and cinnamon rolls), and her easy conversations. She loved to play games and be surrounded by her family and her beloved dogs.
Nan is preceded in death by her parents, Erman and Dado Miller, her sister Carolyn Murphy Wilson, brother in laws Pat Murphy, Harvey Joe Penney and James Steele, and sister in law Carolyn Steele.
She is survived by her husband Allen E.Turner of Voss, son Lanny Turner and wife Cherie of Monroe Louisiana, daughters Melissa and husband Cliff Faubion of Ballinger, Janelle Turner of Belton, Raenese and husband Randy Byrom of Tuscola, and special daughter Brenda Conway of Belton. She was a very special "Nanny" to 7 grandchildren: Cody Faubion and fiance Karesa Keesee of Brownwood, Courtney and Sam Perry of Graham, Cameron and Jessica Faubion of Bandera, Matthew and Kelly Turner of Houston, Mitchell and Heather Turner of San Antonio, Ashley Byrom and Rhett Payne of College Station, and Jamie Byrom of College Station. She has 6 great grandchildren: Casey and Luke Perry, Ava and Jaci Turner, and Vanna and Robert Turner.
She is also survived by very special friends, Gordon and Lanell Hays and Stanley and Fonda Stewart.
