Margaret Wadsworth King went to be with her Lord and Savior whom she loved with all of her heart on November 28, 2017. She was a loving and gentle soul who touched many lives with her kindness, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Margaret was born November 29, 1924 in Dalhart, Texas to Douglas Fred Wadsworth and Fay Amick Wadsworth and was the oldest of three siblings. She grew up in Clarendon, Texas, and after graduating from high school, attended the University of North Texas in Denton, majoring in art. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, John Burton King in 1943. After being stationed with John during WWII in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Margaret and John moved first to Clovis, New Mexico then to Ballinger, Texas in 1947 where they lived until 1983.
After retirement, they moved to Lake LBJ, Marble Falls, Texas. Margaret moved to San Antonio after John’s passing to be near her children and grandchildren in 2006. She had a special love for children and taught Sunday school almost all of her adult life at First Baptist Church, Ballinger, Texas and First Baptist Church, Kingsland, Texas. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas. She was also very active in Meals on Wheels and many other elder care activities for many years. A devoted San Antonio Spurs fan, she watched every game to the end, win or lose.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Vikki King Foster and son, Joel King and wife Linda of San Antonio, grandchildren Carmen Wehmeier of San Francisco, Mason King, Washington, DC and Joshua King of San Antonio, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband John B. King; son, Captain Mike King; brothers, Captain Dean Wadsworth and Doug Wadsworth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, Amarillo, Texas.
