Bobby Gene Patton was born on March 29, 1936, to Ether and Elmer Patton. 

He lived in the Valley View Community and attended school in Ballinger.

He graduated from Ballinger High School in 1954.

On April 6, 1958, Bobby married Janice Roper from Norton, Texas.  They were married for 61 years. 

Bobby was a farmer and raised Southdown Lambs. Patton Southdown won numerous awards all over Texas.

Bobby served on the Ballinger Independent School Board for 9 years.  He also served as Little League President for several years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ballinger and served his Lord and Savior faithfully there for over 50 years.  He was ordained as a Deacon in 1972.  Bobby was on the hospitality committee and washed many dishes in the church kitchen.  For years Bobby greeted people at the door and handed out bulletins.  This was the service that was dearest to his heart.

Bobby loved his family in a very special way.

Fishing and catching big catfish on the trout line was one of his favorite pastimes.  After he retired from farming, he had a large garden and enjoyed sharing the produce with friends.

He is survived by his wife Janice, a daughter Beth Patton Manley and husband Ken. A son, Paul Patton and wife Jennifer.

Also 5 Grandchildren, Garret Heard, Sara Heard, Trey Heard, Destiny Manley and Brittany Patton.

An added joy to his life are 2 great-grandchildren Bryson and Bryar Gregory.

Also, many nieces and nephews that all loved their uncle Bobby. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law Juanda and Don Murphy, and two brothers Dwayne Patton and Howard Patton.

Visitation for Bobby was held before his service on Sunday, Feb. 16 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church in Ballinger.  His funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.
