What position are you running for?

Runnels County Commissioner, Precinct 3.

Why are you running?

As a 5th generation Runnels County resident, my roots run deep. I love this county and would like to see it prosper for future families and residents. I will work to improve our county roads and infrastructure so that they will stand the test of time. I will also fight to keep our tax rate low for Runnels County businesses and citizens. Additionally, I will strive to provide our county officials with adequate funds to protect and serve Runnels county residents.

What do you see as the biggest challenges?

I believe that the biggest challenges are making necessary improvements within Runnels County and providing our county officials with adequate resources while staying within the county budget. As well, complying with unfunded state and federal mandates that arise will challenge the commissioners court.

Do you have previous experience, either in the position or in another comparable capacity?

I work as a pumper and ranch in Runnels County. These jobs both give me an opportunity to travel our county roads on a regular basis. This enables me to see which improvements need to be made. I also own and operate a small business, which gives me experience in budgeting and management. I have an understanding of regulations and tax issues that are associated with small business and property ownership. In addition, I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Ag Business which will help me manage the financial responsibilities of Runnels County.

What qualities do you feel that best epitomize the ideal candidate for the position for which you are running?

A County Commissioner should be fair-minded, intelligent, approachable, and honest. He should treat every constituent equally. Also, a commissioner should have a good mind for business, a strong work ethic, and a conservative foundation. I have built my life around these ideals, and will work hard for the the residents of Runnels County.
