The 30th annual Ballinger Christmas parade will be on Saturday, November 30th at 10 a.m. There will be a sidewalk showcase from local merchants and vendors from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. This year’s Little Miss Merry Christmas will be crowned at 3 p.m.
The event is considered a relaxing type of shopping after all of the Black Friday turmoil. At Christmas in Olde Ballinger, the visitors can shop at ease up and down the sidewalks and in the local businesses. Usually there are more than 30 vendors at the event. There are jams and jellies, home décor, gifts, jewelry and even herbs and spices, to name a few of the items that are typically available.
There is a rumor that even Santa Claus himself will make an appearance.
Former Ballinger Chamber of Commerce president, Tammie Virden, summed it up best a couple of years ago, “If you want to skip the long lines at the malls, we want you to come here and shop. We have people from Abilene to San Angelo who come and shop, plus we catch some who are just traveling through and decide to stop.”
Come out and see the beautiful Christmas lights and experience Christmas the way it was meant to be experienced, not pushing and shoving in a department store trying to find the most inexpensive gift. Many of the items in the shops around Ballinger are handmade or are truly vintage. You will find gifts and items here that you won’t find anywhere else.
