The Ballinger Woman’s Club met Sept. 18, 2019, at Carnegie Library. Guests were introduced who later joined as members – Cheryl Clayton, Lynette Freeman, and Dawni Seymore. Hostesses Ellen McKinnon, Susie Black, Brenda Hamner and Sara Thorpe provided a tasty variety of refreshments among clever western fall table décor.
Kay Smith presented Wanda Kirpatrick who gave a very moving talk from her son’s writing about his experiences of the 9/11 attack on the United States. At the time, Kevin Kirpatrick was a captain with United Airlines. Kevin was scheduled as pilot for the flight which was hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center but was reassigned sometime prior. He was involved in several challenging and emotional instances while in Boston at this time.
President Brenda Tyree conducted the business meeting including officer/committee reports and discussions. The date and information was given about supporting the library fundraiser – “Christmas Tea”, Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019.
