Stop by the school administration office and purchase your tickets today. The 5 game packet will cost $25 per person and will allow entrance into home varsity games. The red section seats are also available to purchase. Come out and support your Bearcats.


Second Annual 'A Round for Marvin' set for Sept. 14


The second annual benefit golf tournament, A Round for Marvin, will be Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Ballinger Country Club. The four man scramble is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Registration for each four person team is $200 which includes green fees, lunch and a goody bag. Golf carts are not included. On course contests include a $10,000 hole in one contest! Mulligans and contest entries are available for an additional fee. Sll proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The tournament is in honor of long time Ballinger resident Marvin Clark who was an avid golfer and lost his battle to Alzheimer’s disease in 2014. We are excited to honor his memory with this fun community event sponsored by Buddy’s Plant Plus, Keystone Bank and Sweetwater Steel. Carnegie Library Golf Tournament Oct. 5


The Carnegie Library Golf Tournament originally scheduled for Saturday, June 1 has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5. The Country Club is playable again and we are anxious for our tournament to happen. We will tee off at 10 a.m. and play 18 holes, followed by the hamburger meal and raffle. St. Boniface Church Fall Festival Oct. 13 in Olfen


St. Boniface Church Fall Festival at Olfen will be Sunday, Oct. 13. The lunch meal of homemade sausage, turkey and dressing will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adult plates and all plates to go will be $10 and children (under 10 years) will be $5. Dine-in, walk-up and drive through plates to go will be available. Dine in guests enter Olfen from the north on FM 1874 and drive through plates to go enter from the west on County Road 234. Handicap parking and shuttle bus will be available. Games and concessions begin at 12 noon, live auction at 1 p.m., candy drop at 3 p.m., quilt raffle, homemade food and items for sale at Fancy Stand, sausage sandwiches for sale in the afternoon, pre-order raw sausage at $5 per pound by Oct. 8. Ballinger Food Pantry open Monday-Friday


The Community Food Pantry, located at 508 Strong Avenue, Ballinger, Texas, invites you to come shop for clothing and household items. Monthly food provided to eligible households with identification and proof of address. A CTO representative is here each Wednesday to provide utility assistance, case management and housing for Texas Heroes, a veteran’s program. Open 9 a.m. to 12 noon Monday to Friday.

Senior citizens are welcome to join us for “Pot Luck” and Friends of Seniors of Winters Friday Night Games starting at 5:50 p.m. at 601 Wood Street Winters  Senior Activity   Center.


Remodeled Winters Food Bank, Thrift Store now open


The Winters Food Bank and remodeled Thrift Store located at the Samaritan House is now open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. until noon and Tuesday and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Super Sale Saturday is the first Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. until noon.


Recycling Center Hours


The City of Ballinger’s Recycling Center, located at South 7th Street and Sealy Avenue, is open from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.


Senior Citizen Lunch


The First United Methodist Church in Ballinger will provide a free lunch to Ballinger senior citizens on the second Tuesday of each month at the Senior Citizens Center. The meal will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The doors will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to make time for seniors attending to have time for visiting and fellowship. Anyone who needs a ride to the lunch, please call 365-2323. Wheelchairs cannot be transported.


Participate in the Flag Project


Ballinger Noon Lions Club wants to thank all businesses who participate in the Flag Project. The club would like to invite new businesses to join our Flag Project. On all major holidays members place flags out and pick them up. The annual cost for this service is $24. Anyone interested please contact Lanada Driskell at 325-234-7842. Carnegie Library Hours


The Carnegie Library in Ballinger is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and from  10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday,  Wednesday,  Thursday  and  Friday. Storytime will resume at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 4.


WIC open to many families, incomes


Women Infants and Children, (WIC) is located in the First United Methodist Church on 1501 N. Broadway Street, phone number is 325-365-5925. WIC is open  Monday and Wednesday only from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.


Winters Tai Chi


The Winters Tai Chi group meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the First Baptist Church Jones Hall. Slow stretches and breathing exercises are suitable for senior citizens. Benefits include improved balance and agility. Cost is free. Participants should bring along water.

Do you want to do something to help your fellow community members? Volunteers are needed as new clients have been added to the Meals on Wheels Plus program in Runnels County. Visit 'Friendly Neighbors'


The Texas Extension Education Agency “Friendly Neighbors” invites everybody in the Runnels County area who is interested in learning about cooking, gardening, arts and crafts and other useful subjects to meetings at 2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except during the summer). Meetings will alternate between the Runnels County Extension Office on the corner of south 7th Street and Sealy Ave. in Ballinger and the Winters Public Library at 120 N. Main St. in Winters. The Children’s Advocacy Center of Tom Green County, Inc. (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is seeking volunteers. Currently CASA serves 60 percent of the children in foster care. Ballinger Masonic Lodge meetings


The Ballinger Masonic Lodge #643 meets on the first Monday evening of each month at 7 p.m. at the lodge at 500 North Broadway. A meal will be served following each meeting. All District 105 Masons and those in the area, are encouraged to attend and meet for fellowship.


Wingate Masonic Lodge meetings


The Wingate Masonic Lodge 1042 A.F. & A.M., meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month, at the Wilmeth Lodge.
