The Texas Department of Transportation held a public meeting at Ballinger city hall on February 26th to discuss replacing 5 bridges in Runnels County. The work is still several months away but TXDoT held the meeting to get public input on the project. Approximately 12 people, mostly those in the areas where the bridges are going to be replaced, showed up to discuss the work with the project manager. Two of the bridges being replaced are over Valley Creek.
The bridges being replaced are; County Road 301 over Valley Creek; County Road 216 over Oak Creek; County Road 272 over Valley Creek; County Road 128 over Mustang Creek; County Road 114 over Pony Creek.
Karen Threlkeld, the TXDot Public Information Officer over the San Angelo district said that the agency is seeking input from the citizens well in advance of the planned work, “We want to give everyone a chance, well ahead of time, to give us their input on the work and to ensure we get the correct information out there. It is a significant project that will affect different areas of the county.” The presentation included engineering blueprints of the respective bridges, photographs of the locations and other information.
Anyone who would like to discuss the project with TXDoT can contact TXDoT Environmental Specialist Becki Perkins at (325) 947-9261 or email her at email@example.com.
