The Carnegie library’s annual Christmas “Tour of Homes” will kick off on Sunday, December 9th at 1:30 p.m and go until 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and the funds go to the Carnegie library. Afterward there will be a reception at the Mid-West Texas Artist Guild located at 108 S. 9th street in Ballinger. The tickets can be purchased at the library and at the homes located in the tour.
The tour has been an annual Christmas staple in Ballinger for many years and this year’s tour includes 9 homes. The stops on the tour include 9 different homes, including the Zappe farm located at 4345 FM 2111 and the Grace Fellowship Church at 609 N. 9th Street. A map of the homes is included with your ticket. “This event has been successful for many years. I’ve been helping with it for the last 6 years but it has gone on for many years,” says Suzann Riley, one of the organizers. Kay Smith is the president of the library board for Carnegie Library and has continued to lead them as she oversees these events along with the board members and library staff.
The event will kick off with a tea party in the upstairs auditorium at the Carnegie library on Saturday, December 8th from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Those tickets are $10 as well but they are limited. Many of the tickets have already been sold but Riley says that some are still available for purchase at the library. The event will showcase local talent, with library board members participating. Word on the street is that Old Saint Nicholas himself might make an appearance. Hors d’oeuvres will be served as well as tea. Each table will be decorated with a different theme.
