WINTERS - Winters High School graduates received more than half a million dollars in scholarships for the 42 graduates this year.

The graduates racked up $568,372 in scholarships from groups, organizations, memorials and institutions of higher learning on Friday, May 18.

Thirty-eight graduating senior received a $2,000 scholarship from Cisco Junior College. Other students received scholarships from Angelo State University, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Schreiner University and Champlain College.

Top scholarship winners included Macey Gerhart, who received at least 15 scholarships, Megan Jacob, who received a full ride to Schreiner University of $88,000 for her shooting sports skills and Brandon L'Abbe who received an $80,000 scholarship from Champlain University in Burlington, Vermont.

During the ceremony, Winters High School Counselor Mandie England told the students to remember their accomplishments.

"In any success, there are many along the way who have helped us," England said.
