BALLINGER - The second annual "new and improved" Golf Tournament benefitting the Carnegie Library will be Saturday, June 2 at the Ballinger Country Club. Teams will consist of two persons, and will be played as an 18-hole Scramble one day only.

The entry fee is $100 per team, which includes a mulligan for each player. One half of the entry-fee money will be donated directly to the Carnegie Library and the other half will be paid out in prize money. This is the major fund raiser for the Carnegie Library, and more entries are needed to complete the roster.

Players interested in playing an extra nine holes may pay an additional $10 per person and play the last round for "day money" or skins. All of that money will be returned to the golfers as prize money.

Breakfast burritos will be sold before tournament play begins, and a hamburger meal, furnished by the Noon Lions Club, will be sold following tournament play Saturday. Spouses and guests are welcome to purchase a hamburger meal and enjoy the raffle. One of the nine hole rounds will include a chance to split 50/50 with the library for being closest to the pin on hole #5, or having the longest drive on hole #4. Entry into each of those two contest will be $5 per golfer. Carts will be available for rent, but must be ordered in advance.

Local businesses and individuals sponsor the event, as well as furnish items for the raffle. To donate sponsorship money or a raffle item, please contact Carolyn Slaughter at 325-718-9996 or the Carnegie Library at 325-365-3616. Raffle tickets will be sold at the country club Saturday of the tournament, as well as at First National Bank, Ballinger National Bank and IGA Shoppin' Baskit before the tournament. Tickets sell for $5 each or 5 for $20, with prizes being valued at $50 or more per prize. Between 25-30 pizes will be given. Winners do not have to be present to win and will be contacted by telephone the week following the tournament if not participating in the tournament.

The Library board encourages local golfers to get a team together and come out and enjoy the the fun. Contact the Ballinger Country Club at 325-365-3214 or Carolyn Slaughter 325-718-9996, to enter your team. The tournament is limited to 33 teams so call early to assure your spot.
