The Winters Area Foundation held its Annual Project Fund Dinner on Tuesday, April 10 which was hosted by Board President Jill Davis and attended by over 130 members and catered by Archie Jobe.

Steve Keenum, West Texas Director of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, gave an insight into his son’s successful NFL career. Keenum encouraged the group by his positive and motivating attitude.

After Keenum’s speech, the Winters Area Foundation presented an $800 check for scholarships to the FCA summer Camp to Coach Val Acree of Winters High School

Also during the evening, the WAF had the opportunity to give back to the community with financial support for a number of non profit organizations.

“One good thing about these gifts to local non-profits is that they turn around and use that gift to the betterment of our community,” said WAF Secretary Susan Conner.

During the dinner, each table of 12 selected a recipient, then the oldest member at that table got to come spin the Winters Area Foundation Wheel of Fortune. The biggest winner of the night was the Winters Public Library and with three spins earned $1,750. Winters Meals on Wheels was chosen by three tables and won $1,250 for Meals on Wheels Plus of Abilene. The Winters Ministerial Alliance had multiple spins and received $500. Other groups receiving grants of $250 included the Winters Child Development Center, Winters 4-H, Wingate Fire Department, and WHS Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, (FCCLA).
