BALLINGER - The Ballinger Memorial Hospital District Health Foundation has been awarded a $1 for $1 match grant by The Meadows Foundation of Dallas, Texas. Funds will be used towards the replacement of two ambulances used by Ballinger EMS. The Meadows Foundation has committed to match dollar-for-dollar funds up to $25,000 which are raised by BMHD Health Foundation during the period of September 8, 2017 to February 28, 2018, for use towards the purchase of two new ambulances. In late 2016, it became apparent that, due to ongoing and frequent repair issues, the BMHD would need to replace both of its ambulances at the same time rather than on a rotating basis as planned and budgeted.
The BMHD Board of Directors took proactive measures to approve the purchase of two new ambulances with the hope that grant funding could be secured to offset purchase and finance costs. With this in mind, the “Ballinger EMS Project” was launched. The overall project includes replacement and upgrade of both Ballinger EMS ambulances; purchase of a cardiac monitor/defibrillator and a hydraulic stretcher for the second ambulance; and completion of necessary adjustments to the existing EMS Garage. In February of 2017, the BMHD Health Foundation submitted an application to the San Angelo Area Foundation and was awarded $23,595.74 towards the purchase of a hydraulic stretcher and adjustments to the EMS Garage. In early March, the BMHD Health Foundation also submitted a grant application to The Meadows Foundation and, in September, was awarded the $1:$1 match up to $25,000 for use specifically towards the purchase of two new ambulances. Additionally, a pending application has been submitted to a separate organization regarding the cardiac monitor/defibrillator portion of this project.
Ballinger Memorial Hospital District has a long, successful history in healthcare and continues to strive for excellence in every service provided. A major factor in this success and longevity is its commitment to growth and change as the healthcare industry and patient needs evolve. This project is an example of that commitment.
With this $1:$1 match grant on the table, BMHD Health Foundation will be working diligently to secure $25,000 of additionally committed funds by February 28, 2018 in order to ensure that a total of $50,000 is applied to loans currently in place on the two new ambulances. Efforts to secure $25,000 in funding commitments will include additional grant applications, fundraisers, and direct donations. To contribute specifically to this project, please send your donation marked “Ballinger EMS Project” to: Ballinger Memorial Hospital District Health Foundation, PO Box 617, Ballinger, TX 76821. BMHD Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations will be tax deductible.
The BMHD Health Foundation along with the BMHD Board of Directors, administration and staff are honored by the trust and support of the above organizations as they commit funds to the Hospital District. Additionally, we greatly appreciate all contributions to the Ballinger EMS Project and truly believe that its completion is vital for the health, safety, and peace of mind of BMHD patients and staff as well as their respective families.
