St. Boniface Fall Festival Oct. 8

OLFEN – The St. Boniface Fall Festival will be held Sunday, Oct. 8 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen. The lunch meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include homemade German sausage, turkey and dressing and all the trimmings. Dine-in and drive through plates to go will be available for $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. All to go and drive-through plates are $10. Dine in guests enter Olfen from the north on FM 1874. Drive-through plates to-go enter Olfen from the west on County Road 234. There will be handicapped parking and shuttles available. Other events include games and concessions at noon, a live auction at 1 p.m. and a candy drop at 3 p.m. Sausage sandwiches will be available in the afternoon. There will be a quilt raffle and homemade items and food available at the Fancy Stand. Homemade raw German sausage will be sold for $5 per pound and pre-orders are recommended. Lord's Acre Festival Oct. 15

BALLINGER - The First United Methodist Church of Ballinger will be hosting the annual Lord’s Acre Festival, Sunday, October 15 at 1501 N. Broadway in Ballinger. A Bar-B-Q Brisket and Sausage lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with dine-in, drive-through and take-out available. Activities starting at 10 a.m. will include a silent auction, Country Store and Christmas Store. St. Ambrose Fall Festival Oct. 15

WALL - The St. Ambrose Holy Family 78th Annual Fall Festival will be held Sunday, Oct. 15 at the church. A traditional turkey, dressing and German sausage lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a variety of activities ongoing throughout the day, including a market and German sausage will be for sale. A shuttle will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from the Wall school parking lot.

WINTERS - New books are arriving daily at the Winters Public Library including “Paradise” by C.J. Box and “The Prisoner” by Alex Berenson. There is also a large selection of audio books available. BALLINGER - Make plans to come by the Art Gallery located in the lobby of the Cook Professional Building at 804 Hutchins Ave. in downtown Ballinger. Visitors will see a variety of paintings on display by a featured artist of the month plus other art from members of the Mid-West Texas Artist Guild at the Do-Art Studio. The exhibit and sale times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and varied times on Friday.

RUNNELS COUNTY - Do you want to do something to help your fellow community members? Volunteers are needed as new clients have been added to the Meals on Wheels Plus program in Runnels County. Winters Library news

WINTERS - The Winters Public Library has public access Internet computers and free WiFi. The library is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Screenings offered

WINTERS - Runnels County residents may obtain diabetes and blood pressure screenings at the Winters Public Library from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 19 or the third Wednesday of each month. Do not eat before the screening for the best results. The library is closed at that time, so those wishing to obtain a screening must enter through the back door of the library o Grant Street. For the best results for this test, do not eat two hours before screening.

CASA volunteers wanted

The Children's Advocacy Center of Tom Green County, Inc. (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is seeking volunteers. Currently CASA serves 60 percent of the children in foster care. Visit Friendly Neighbors

The Texas Extension Education Agency “Friendly Neighbors” invites everybody in the Runnels County area who is interested in learning about cooking, gardening, arts and crafts and other useful subjects to meetings at 2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except during the summer). Meetings will alternate between the Runnels County Extension Office on the corner of south 7th Street and Sealy Ave. in Ballinger and the Winters Public Library at 120 N. Main St. in Winters. Masonic Lodge meeting

The Ballinger Masonic Lodge #643 meets on the first Monday evening of each month at 7 p.m. at the lodge at 500 North Broadway. A meal will be served following each meeting. All District 105 Masons and those in the area, are encouraged to attend and meet for fellowship.

Carnegie Library hours

The Carnegie Library in Ballinger is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. The library is currently closed Saturday and Sunday. Children's Story Hour and Crafts is at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday. The Shakespeare Room is available for rent for events. In addition the Mary Sykes Auditorium is for rent for weddings and banquets.

The City of Ballinger’s Recycling Center, located at South 7th Street and Sealy Avenue, is open from 8 a.m. to noon on Monday. The recycling center is open from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Saturday, the recycling center is open from 8 a.m. to noon.

WIC open to many incomes and families

Women Infants and Children, (WIC) located at 706 Strong Ave. in Ballinger is open from 7 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. WIC is closed every third and fourth Monday of each month. Phone 325-365-5925.

Wingate Masonic Lodge meetings

The Wingate Masonic Lodge will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on Saturday, May 27 at the lodge in Wilmeth. The Wingate Masonic Lodge 1042 A.F. & A.M., meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month, at the Wilmeth Lodge.

Paint Rock Masonic Lodge meetings
