WINTERS – The CEO of the North Runnels Hospital Judy Espitia officially submitted her resignation to the board of North Runnels Hospital on Monday, June 19.

Her last day will be Aug. 18.

The resignation was submitted in writing and discussed in executive session. The board accepted her resignation in open session following the closed session.

Board members have formed a committee to search for her replacement.

“We have formed a committee to search,” said board member Jean Hilliard. “Hopefully we will find someone before the 30 days, if not the board will appoint an interim.”

Espitia has been at NRH since March of 2010, starting as chief financial officer.

“I left for a couple of months and came back as the hospital administrator,” she said. "I was asked to come back by the board.”

She said the board has changed since she signed on with NRH seven years ago.

“There were four board members when I returned that are no longer here,” Espitia said.

She has served as CEO for the past two years.

There are currently seven members on the NRH Board of Directors including President Dewey Whitfield, Jim Wilkerson, Scotty Belew, Lloyd Farris, Joe Frank Guajardo, Hilliard and Freddy Grohman.

Espitia said she is currently in the process of searching for a new position.
