SAN ANGELO - As a part of the Buckle Down & Stay Strapped In campaign, 660 seat belt observations were conducted in San Angelo during the month of April and 389 were conducted during the month of May.

SAN ANGELO - As a part of the Buckle Down & Stay Strapped In campaign, 660 seat belt observations were conducted in San Angelo during the month of April and 389 were conducted during the month of May.

April’s results indicate that the overall seat belt use rate is 96.8 percent in San Angelo. This is 6.1 percent higher than the state average of 90.7%, 9.8% higher than the national average of 87 percent, and 3.7 percent higher than San Angelo’s October 2016 baseline of 93.1%.

May’s results indicate that the overall seat belt use rate is 97.2 percent. This is 6.5 percent higher than the state average of 90.7 percent, 10.2 percent higher than the national average of 87 percent, and 4.1 percent higher than San Angelo’s October 2016 baseline of 93.1percent.

April and May surveys took place in five locations in the area. In addition to the general use rate data, findings showed the following:
