The Ballinger Noon Lions Club sponsored the 42nd Annual Colorado River Bikefest on Saturday, April 29.

The Ballinger Noon Lions Club sponsored the 42nd Annual Colorado River Bikefest on Saturday, April 29.

Cyclists came from all over the state to participate in the event that includes a 30K, 60K and 100K race and a 5K run, walk and ride.

The winners in the men’s 100 K event included Jason Kinman, of Odessa, first place; Matt Garcia of Paint Rock, second and Hold Pierce of Brady, third place.

Winners in the 60K race in the men’s category included Benjamin Galnak of Abilene, first, Ron Cost of Abilene, second and Ty Johnson of San Angelo, third. Jeffrie Long of San Angelo won first place in the women’s category.

The 30K winners in the men’s category included Greg Larson of Midland, first, Bill Mongomery of San Angelo, second and David Robnett of Santa Anna, third. In the women’s category, Monica Minzenmayer of Rowena won first, Brandy Kinman of Odessa, second and Kristi Cook of Rowena took third place.

Leroy Schafer, 75, was named the oldest rider to participate. The youngest rider was 5-year old Drake Diaz.

In the 5K ride, Monte McKinnon of Ballinger won first place, Owen Duke won second place and Matt Minzenmayer of Rowena won third place.

In the 5K Walk, Vanessa Saavedra of Ballinger won first place, Steven McDaniel of Kemper won second place and Susan Kleypas of San Angelo took third place.
