WINTERS - The Future of Winters Club celebrated a successful membership campaign, during the dinner and event held April 4.

Over 95 memberships to the Future of Winters Club were received over the past month. The Future of Winters Club is an integral part of the Winters Area Foundation. Money received through memberships is returned to our community in form of grants to local area non-profits. Also, scholarships are given to local graduating seniors in May.

The members joined together to celebrate Winters with a steak dinner on April 4. A patriotic theme was observed with red, white and blue decorations. Kevin Tutt from Tuscola was the motivational speaker for the evening.

Members cast ballots to select the organizations in the community to receive grants. This year members voted to give grants to the Z.I. Hale Museum ($1000), Meals on Wheels ($750), Winters Volunteer Fire Department ($500), Winters 4-H ($250) and the Foundation Scholarship Fund ($250).

Since the inception of the Winters Area Foundation, grants and scholarships total over $133,000. This year scholarships and grants will be in excess of $25,000.

Membership to the Future of Winters Club is open year-round and dues are $120. However, memorials, honorariums, donations and charitable gifts are taken in all amounts and help the WAF award grants as needed. To make a donation, please mail a check to Winters Area Foundation, Box 211, Winters, Texas 79567.
