Meals on Wheels Plus of Abilene delivered more than 1,000 frozen emergency meals to clients on Friday, March 24, thanks to a donation from a business in Abilene.

Executive Director Betty Bradley said on Friday, that MOW would send a frozen meal in addition to the regular hot lunch to everyone. This included the 105 people in Winters, Ballinger and Rowena that are receiving meals from Meals on Wheels Plus in Abilene.

Each meal had a note explaining that it is an emergency meal to be held until June, just in case Meals on Wheels has to close over the next couple of months. If it hasn’t been needed by then everyone can enjoy it for a weekend or evening meal.

"This little “extra” service is an example of the reason we have the “Plus” in our name," Bradley said. "We are concerned about other needs our clients have and want to provide additional help when we have the opportunity."
