WINTERS - The Winters Area Chamber of Commerce will host their annual banquet Saturday at the Winters Community Center and individuals and business and a family will be honored for their contributions to the community.

WINTERS - The Winters Area Chamber of Commerce will host their annual banquet Saturday at the Winters Community Center and individuals and business and a family will be honored for their contributions to the community.

The keynote speaker for the evening will be Kelly Bland, who serves at the Throckmorton Chamber of Commerce. Officials with the Winters Chamber chose Bland because she is known as “an encourager with a heart for the rural community.”

Dinner will be catered by Phil King of Beefmaster’s Steakhouse in Ballinger. Throughout the evening a silent auction will be held, featuring a selection of items and services from the community.

Awards for Man and Woman of the Year, Teacher of the Year, First Responder of the Year, Ag Family of the Year and Business of the Year will be presented during the event.

Nominees for Man of the Year include Craig Gehrels, Jerry Sims, Jimmy Pumphrey, Billy Sherman and Dr. Travis Arledge. Nominees for Woman of the Year include Lisa Yates, Naomi Gerhart, Kari Calcote, Joyce Carberry and Tami Halfmann. Nominees for Ag Family of the Year include Scott and Peggy Belew, Will and Leslie Duggan, Gary and Dinell Jacob and the McNeil/Mesey family. Business of the Year nominees are AC Nutrition, Tex Signs, Security State Bank and Hatler Insurance. Nominees for First Responder of the Year are Jimmy Frazier of North Runnels EMS, Brandon Davis of the Winters Volunteer Fire Department and C.J. Just of the Winters Police Department. Nominees for Teacher of the Year include Jennifer Parramore, Chris Parramore, Melissa gerhart, Karen Broyles and Landa Grohman.
