Revival June 24-26
BALLINGER - There will be a "Revival" Jun424-26 at New Life Refuge Church, 104 N. 12th Street. The Revival will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 24, and at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, June 25 and 26. Derek Stinnett from Rogers, Arkansas will be bringing anointed messages each night. Come with a physical and a spiritual appetite, both will be fed. Don't miss this opportunity to be blessed! Meet You at the Square
ROWENA - The 13th Annual Rowena Lions Club "Meet You at the Square" BBQ Cook Off will be held Saturday, July 7 in downtown Rowena. Cash prizes and trophies will be given to the top entries in brisket, ribs, chicken and beans. There will also be a Margarita contest with trophies being given to the top two entries. There will be a Children's Parade at 11 a.m. and a Washer Pitching Contest later in the day. The Rowena 4H will be selling BBQ sandwiches and other refreshments during the day. BBQ Brisket time
ROWENA - The Rowena Lions Club is currently taking orders for whole BBQ briskets ready to be picked up on Sunday morning, June 18, 2018, still warm and just in time for Father's Day noon meal. The cost is $75 per brisket. Pints of hot sauce will also be sold (Howard family recipe) at a cost of $7 per pint or $5 per pint with the purchase of a brisket. There will be PRE-ORDERS only. Carnegie Library Summer Reading Program
BALLINGER - The Carnegie Library will be rocking all summer with special events planned throughout the summer. Children will receive a pool pass for every 10 books read from the summer reading list available at the library. Throughout the summer more music, entertainment and fun is in store with the Repco Wildlife Encounters slated for June 18, The Rockin’ Balloon Show on tap for June 24 and Majik Theatre troupe on stage July 2. The Summer Reading Program is funded by the Texas Commission on the Arts. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend.
Ballinger Noon Lions Flag Project
Ballinger Noon Lions Club wants to thank all Businesses who participate in the Flag Project. The club would like to invite new businesses to join our Flag Project. On all major holidays members place flags out and pick them up. The annual cost for this service is $24. Anyone interested please contact Lanada Driskell at 325-234-7842. Diabetes and blood pressure screenings
WINTERS - There will be a Diabetes and Blood Pressure Screening given by the North Runnels EMS at the Winters Public Library on from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, February 21. Please do not eat before testing and use the back entrance to the Library.
Winters Tai Chi
The Winters Tai Chi group meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the First Baptist Church Jones Hall. Slow stretches and breathing exercises are suitable for senior citizens. Benefits include improved balance and agility. Cost is free. Participants should bring along water.
Senior Citizen lunch
BALLINGER - The First United Methodist Church in Ballinger will provide a free lunch to Ballinger senior citizens on the second Tuesday of each month at the Senior Citizens Center. The meal will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The doors will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to make time for seniors attending to have time for visiting and fellowship. Anyone who needs a ride to the lunch, please call 365-2323. Wheelchairs cannot be transported.

BALLINGER - Make plans to come by the Art Gallery located in the lobby of the Cook Professional Building at 804 Hutchins Ave. in downtown Ballinger. Visitors will see a variety of paintings on display by a featured artist of the month plus other art from members of the Mid-West Texas Artist Guild at the Do-Art Studio. The exhibit and sale times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and varied times on Friday.
Meals on Wheels volunteers needed
RUNNELS COUNTY - Do you want to do something to help your fellow community members? Volunteers are needed as new clients have been added to the Meals on Wheels Plus program in Runnels County. Winters Library news
WINTERS - The Winters Public Library has public access Internet computers and free WiFi. The library is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
WINTERS - Runnels County residents may obtain diabetes and blood pressure screenings at the Winters Public Library from 9-10 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month. Do not eat before the screening for the best results. The library is closed at that time, so those wishing to obtain a screening must enter through the back door of the library o Grant Street. For the best results for this test, do not eat two hours before screening.

A Time for Freedom

CASA volunteers wanted
The Children's Advocacy Center of Tom Green County, Inc. (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is seeking volunteers. Currently CASA serves 60 percent of the children in foster care. Visit Friendly Neighbors
The Texas Extension Education Agency “Friendly Neighbors” invites everybody in the Runnels County area who is interested in learning about cooking, gardening, arts and crafts and other useful subjects to meetings at 2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except during the summer). Meetings will alternate between the Runnels County Extension Office on the corner of south 7th Street and Sealy Ave. in Ballinger and the Winters Public Library at 120 N. Main St. in Winters. Masonic Lodge meeting
The Ballinger Masonic Lodge #643 meets on the first Monday evening of each month at 7 p.m. at the lodge at 500 North Broadway. A meal will be served following each meeting. All District 105 Masons and those in the area, are encouraged to attend and meet for fellowship.
Carnegie Library hours
BALLINGER - The Carnegie Library in Ballinger is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. The library is currently closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Children's Story Hour will be held each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
Recycling Center Hours
The City of Ballinger’s Recycling Center, located at South 7th Street and Sealy Avenue, is open from 8 a.m. to noon on Monday. The recycling center is open from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Saturday, the recycling center is open from 8 a.m. to noon.
WIC open to many incomes and families
Women Infants and Children, (WIC) located at 706 Strong Ave. in Ballinger is open from 7 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. WIC is closed every third and fourth Monday of each month. Phone 325-365-5925.
Wingate Masonic Lodge meetings
The Wingate Masonic Lodge 1042 A.F. & A.M., meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month, at the Wilmeth Lodge.
Paint Rock Masonic Lodge meetings
The Paint Rock Masonic Lodge No. 613 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Supper will be provided after the meeting held at the Masonic Lodge building located at 360 South Roberts on Highway 83 South.
