WINTERS - More than 100 citizens gathered for daily lunches held at the Winters Community Center held during Holy Week, March 26-30.

Each day of the week, members from local churches prepared the noon meal and conducted a service, to observe the week leading up to Easter.

On Wednesday, the noon meal was prepared by members of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Pastor Al Braake led the service, which included readings and hymns.

“This week has been quite a week - it has been a blessed and glorious week,” Braake told the faithful crowd, that gathered for the chicken spaghetti lunch.

Braake’s message emphasized giving to others and being of service to others.

“This community is a light to the world,” Braake said.

On Monday lunch was served by First Baptist Church, Tuesday, First United Methodist Church and Wingate Baptist joined forces to serve the lunch. Thursday’s meal was served by members of all of the Assembly of God churches in and around Winters and Friday’s meal was served by the Church of Christ.
