BALLINGER - The members of the Mid-West Texas Art Guild extend an invitation for everyone to come and enjoy a varied selection of paintings for sale at the Art Gallery, 804 Hutchins St., downtown Ballinger.

BALLINGER - The members of the Mid-West Texas Art Guild extend an invitation for everyone to come and enjoy a varied selection of paintings for sale at the Art Gallery, 804 Hutchins St., downtown Ballinger.

The current featured artist in the gallery is Jean Smith Hensley. Born in Flat, Texas. and raised in Ambest, Jean realized a passion for art at a young age and dedicated herself to learning more.

In 1973, she met Mrs. Lee, an art teacher in Big Spring who was the first of many mentors who helped develop her talent. Jean carries on her love of art by teaching classes at the Do-Art Studio in Ballinger. She enjoys painting with oils, watercolor, acrylic, and pastel.

Her current favorite choice of expressing herself artistically is mixed medium where she combines different types of paints together. Jean and her husband, Charles Hensley, a retired U.S. Border Patrol Officer, moved to Ballinger in 1995. Their daughter Paula Hensley resides in San Angelo.

Jean's work is for sale at the gallery is the art of other members including Lue Kraatz, Gayle Vancil, Louise Drennan, Doris Studer, Queba James all of Ballinger, and area artists Shirley Menzenmayer of Winters, Phyllis Poe of Bronte, and Tom Orsak of Harriett.

Orsak will be the featured artist for April and May.

This is a great opportunity to experience a wonderful display of paintings and find that gift for someone special or art work to adorn some place special or a special treat for yourself.

Look for the art gallery located in the Cook Professional Bldg., 804 Hutchins St., in downtown Ballinger. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday hours may vary.
