WINTERS - Winters High School crowned their Football Sweetheart on Friday, November 4, 2022 during halftime ceremonies at Blizzard Stadium. Winters High School, Pride of West Texas Blizzard Marching Band crowned their Band Beau and Sweetheart in halftime ceremonies of their final home game at Blizzard Stadium.
It’s been a tough year for two of the three football teams in Runnels County. Ballinger and Winters have faced adversity at every turn, while Miles has continued to improve and flourish under thirdyear head coach Jayson Wilhelm. The ups and downs and ever-changing landscape of football players, coaching staffs, and the randomness of injuries and other factors all push and pull at our teams.
The Runnels County Register Athlete of the Week is the Miles Bulldogs’ quarterback, Hayven Book. In the Bulldogs’ 7726 trouncing of the Roscoe Plowboys last week, Book was 19/27 for 343-yards and 6 touchdowns.
It was another week of exciting football for Ballinger and Miles while Winters was on their BYE week. San Angelo TLCA win drops Ballinger to 0-9 with 34-27 defeat The Bearcats can’t seem to catch a break this year.
BALLINGER - Well, it was another tough week for Ballinger and Winters while Miles rolled over Abilene TLCA without missing a beat. Ballinger’s loss was a heartbreaker and I’ll get into why that.
BALLINGER - The Ballinger Lady Cats Addison Martin finished 1st overall in the cross country meet held at Ballinger Country Club last week. Matilda Galvan finished in 3rd; Kendall Smith finished in 8th; Megan Booher finished 10th; Ashtyn Wilson finished 16th; Nayeli DeLuna finished 18th; and Jessa Battle finished 21st.
The Ballinger Lady Cats Cross Country Team took 2nd overall at the recent meet held at Ballinger Country Club and are our Athlete(s) of the Week! The Lady Cats’ Addison Martin took 1st overall. The girls team is made up of: Kendall Smith, Addison Martinsenior, Jessa Battle, Matilda Galvan, Nayeli DeLuna, Ashtyn Wilson, and Megan Booher.
RUNNELS COUNTY - It would be an understatement to say that football this year has been a challenge for all of our teams in Runnels County. Ballinger currently sits at 0-7, Winters is 1-7, while Miles is 5-2 overall and 1-2 in district.
RUNNELS COUNTY - All three teams, Ballinger, Miles, and Winters, fell in their games last Friday. The Miles Bulldogs were the only team that managed to put up any points, whatsoever.
